# 8x8 Work for Desktop Application Crashing on Mac

## Symptom

On macOS, 8x8 Work for Desktop crashes on startup or when attempting to make a call, typically with the following error: 8x8 Work for Desktop *has closed unexpectedly.*

## Resolution

### Uninstall and Reinstall 8x8 Work for Desktop

1. In **Finder**, navigate to **Applications**.
2. Click **Utilities**.
3. Find and run **Adobe AIR** **Uninstaller**.
4. **Uninstall** 8x8 Work for Desktop.
5. [Download the latest version of 8x8 Work for Desktop](/support/docs/download-8x8-work-for-desktop)
6. **Re-install** 8x8 Work for Desktop.

## Cause

This crash may be caused by a separate installation of Adobe AIR being present on the machine, which conflicts with the Adobe AIR baked into the 8x8 Work for Desktop installation file.
