# Access Voicemail from an Outside Line

## Objective

Accessing voicemail from an external line.

- Voicemail

## Procedure

Due to potential security risks, access to voicemail from an external (non-8x8) number is restricted. If you would like to request that this feature be enabled on your 8x8 service, [Create a Case with 8x8 Support](/support/docs/create-a-case-with-8x8-support). Once enabled, this feature will be available to all users in all locations on your 8x8 service.

1. Once this feature is enabled, you can access your 8x8 voicemail from an external line by dialing your **8x8 phone number**.
2. During the greeting, press **#**.
3. Enter your **voicemail password** and press **#** again.
4. To return to the main menu at any time, press *****.
