# Configure a Static IP on a Cisco 8861 IP Phone

## Objective

Set up a static IP address settings for a Cisco IP Phone 8861 model using the web GUI or phone GUI. Switching a phone from DHCP to a static IP can be a useful way to address connectivity issues.

- Cisco IP Phone 8861

## Procedure

### Configure Using the Web GUI

1. Access the web utility (GUI).
2. Log in as **Admin**.
3. Click **Voice** > **System**.
4. Under *IPv4 Settings* select **Static IP**.
5. Enter the **IP address** of the phone.
6. Enter the **Gateway address**.
7. Enter the **Subnet**.
8. Enter **Primary DNS**.
9. Click **Submit All Changes**.

The phone will apply the configuration settings and return to the web utility page after the update.

### Configure Using the Phone GUI

1. Press **Settings**.
2. Select **Network Configuration**.
3. Select **IPv4 address settings**.
4. Select **Static IP**.
5. Enter the **IP address** of the phone.
6. Enter the **Gateway address**.
7. Enter the **Subnet**.
8. Enter **Primary DNS**.
9. Select **Set**.

The GUI will display a message that configuration settings are being applied.
