Symptom
Phone numbers cannot be assigned to users.
One of the following banner errors may appear:
"User settings saved with errors. Failed at extension update."
"User settings saved with errors. Failed at Phone Number assistant sending welcome email."

Resolution
As a workaround Workaround:
Login to Admin Console, Users, and go to the edit user page.
Shorten the user's first name to 30 characters or less.
After shortening the name, successfully save the phone number assignment through the Admin Console.
This workaround has been tested and confirmed to be successful.
Cause
One of the system's databases has a 30-character limit for user first names. When a user's first name exceeds this limit, an error occurs during phone number assignment.
