# Undock Meetings in 8x8 Work

## Overview

Starting February 27, 2025, 8x8 Work has launched a feature enabling users to undock meetings into a separate tab for improved multitasking during those sessions.

### What are the new features?

This new feature will give you a pre-join screen when you join the meeting. From here, you can adjust your microphone, camera, and other settings before you commit to joining the meeting. If you decide not to join, you can close this window.

Now, users will have their meeting open in a separate window from the main 8x8 Work application. With this setting turned on, you can better multitask during a meeting by having a split view of your meeting and messages over one or more screens.

If your meeting is minimized, you can quickly maximize it again from 8x8 Work by clicking **Open** in your Active Meeting section.

The **Meetings** tab in 8x8 Work is now split into two sections. As usual, you can view all upcoming meetings on the left. All past meetings are now viewable on the right, allowing users to view both sections simultaneously.

### Can I dock the window during a meeting?

**No, the settings to dock and undock a meeting are disabled while a meeting is in progress.** You will need to finish your meeting first, and then disable the feature before joining another meeting.

### How do I disable the undock meetings feature?

Users can turn off the undocked meetings feature in 8x8 Work by navigating to **Settings** > **Meetings** > **Meeting launch** section and clicking the **Open meetings in a new window** switch to disable it (gray). \

Disabling this feature will revert meetings to the old style of having it all contained within the same 8x8 Work application window.

### Can I disable it for all users?

The undock meetings feature can’t be disabled for users in bulk. Instead, each user must manually disable it in their personal 8x8 Work settings.

### Is this available in 8x8 Work for Web?

Yes, the undock meetings feature is also available in 8x8 Work for Web. You will need to ensure that pop-ups and redirects from [https://work.8x8.com](https://work.8x8.com) are allowed.

### What happens if I close the meeting window?

Closing the meeting window while you are in it will remove you from the meeting. You must rejoin the meeting to open the window again.
