# Enable meetings to open in a separate window

You can now choose how to initiate a meeting into 8x8 Work for Desktop, in a window docked to it or in a separate window undocked.

> 
> The Undocked Meetings feature is enabled by default.

**To enable meetings to open in a new window in** **8x8 Work for Desktop****:**

1. In the navigation menu, click **Settings ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/e3a59e39-abd3-4423-964c-0a4008dc5673/Images/Documentation/icon-settings-menu_17x18.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-03T21%3A53%3A45Z&se=2026-11-03T22%3A53%3A45Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ymFi%2BNR1vjUm9AGCf9XRMSaRfgi9sthP8Xrq4VZLg80%3D)** **>****Meetings**.
2. Under **Meeting launch**, enable the **Open meetings in a new window** toggle. If this option is disabled, the meeting will open in a docked window.

> - While in a meeting, users cannot dock/undock the meeting window.
> 
> - 8x8 Work for Web users must ensure that pop-ups and redirects from [https://work.8x8.com](https://work.8x8.com) are enabled (this may require refreshing the browser after allowing them).
