Additional Information

You may also return the ported-out numbers in case they are of no use to you anymore.

Question: What do I do if I want to change a current phone number from one area code to a different one?

Answer: You can return the claimed phone number. If you don't see a phone number in your pull of available phone numbers with the correct area code, you can raise a case a Number Porting team to help you aquire the number.

*** If you need a phone number in a different country, that may require a different type of license.

Question: How do I return a temporary phone number?

Answer: Once your porting is complete, the temporary number will automatically be removed from your account.

Question: Are we charged for unused numbers?

Answer: 8x8 charges for licenses, whether or not they are assigned to a user. To avoid being charged for unused licenses, you can initiate a partial cancellation. See How to Cancel.

Question: How do I view return claimed numbers?

Answer: You can't as the numbers are no longer in your system and have been returned to the general pool.

Question: Why don't I see the option to return a claimed phone number?

Answer: Make sure you unassign the phone number from the user so it's available to return. If a user has been deactivated, you'll need to reactivate the user first so you can make adjustments to their account.
