How to Understand AI Studio App Store Billing

Prev Next

This article explains how AI Studio App Store billing works once a Tenant is already subscribed: the two available plans, what usage looks like on each, how to cancel, and how to read an App Store invoice.

Applies to

  • Product: 8x8 App Store, 8x8 AI Studio

  • Required role: Admin (billing & plans) / User (checking credits)

  • Applies to: Tenants already subscribed to an AI Studio App Store plan

Prerequisites

  • AI Studio is installed on the tenant.

  • The tenant has already selected a plan (Pay as You Go or App Store Starter) on the Billing → Plans page.

Steps: Checking credits used in AI Studio

Follow these steps to see how many credits the tenant has used.

  1. Log in to AI Studio.

  2. Go to Home → Credits. This shows total credits, usage by cost type, and usage by model/provider over a selected date range.

Expected result

The tenant can see exactly how many credits have been consumed, by what, and over what period.

Description

Pay as You Go

Standard pay-as-you-go model with no fixed monthly fees or contracts. Charges are based solely on actual credit consumption.

10,000, consumed before the customer is charged anything

Never expires

App Store Starter

A discounted prepaid bundle of 100,000 credits per month. Usage beyond the bundle is metered at the standard Pay as You Go rate.

10,000, consumed on sign-up while the committed fee already applies

Never expires

What the customer sees after signing up

  • On Pay as You Go, the Usage & billing page tracks free credits as they're used, then shows cost once they're exhausted.

  • On the Starter plan, the same page also tracks the prepaid 100,000-credit bundle:

Changing plans mid-month

If a customer switches plans partway through a billing cycle, the next invoice is pro-rated across the cycle — shown to the customer when they accept the terms for the new plan. Because the plan changed mid-cycle, the usage screen can't always show an accurate cost-to-date figure until the next full cycle.

How to stop

What happens

Pay as You Go

Simply cease usage.

With no fixed fees or commitments, charges stop as soon as usage stops. The plan stays active on the tenant at no cost.

App Store Starter

Cancel via Billing → Plans before the next cycle.

The monthly commitment ends at the close of the current billing cycle. The account reverts to inactive; re-subscribing to either plan takes one click.

Understanding your App Store invoice

An App Store invoice reads top to bottom: a summary of what was used, the charges behind it, and the final amount due.

Field

What it means

Invoice number

The unique reference for this bill — quote it if contacting support about a charge.

Customer ID

The organization's 8x8 account identifier.

Billing ID

The identifier for this billing account.

Issue date

The day the invoice was produced.

Due date

The day payment is due.

Billing period

The date range the charges cover.

Charge line

What it means

Included credits

Credits covered by the plan at no extra cost. The 10,000 free credits are used first.

Credits charged

Credits billed once the included allowance runs out.

Regular rate

The price per credit.

Service charge

Any fixed fee for the plan. Pay as You Go has none, so this is $0.00.

Usage charge

Credits charged × the rate.

Item total

The total for that charge line.

Note: A single invoice can show more than one charge block if the rate or plan changed partway through the period. Totals below the charges add a subtotal, tax, and the final total due.

Finding App Store charges on the main 8x8 invoice

App Store spend also appears on the tenant's main monthly 8x8 invoice, under its own AppStore Charges section — so it reconciles alongside the rest of the tenant's 8x8 services.

Service charge shows any monthly commitment; usage charge shows Pay as You Go spend or Starter overage. At the bottom of the invoice, an AppStore Service Summary link opens the App Store to show the full breakdown.
